Getting Ready Between the Snow Squalls
Sunday Jan 5th : Nine hardy souls braved the elements plus Barry & Judy came across the hall to share some Who's yer Father? conversation, slurp some seafood chowder and hamburger soup and expose the usual Maritime connections. Thanks to all my great friends for also helping me eat down the fridge a bit more too.

Monday & Tuesday Jan 6 and 7:
Time for tune ups...first a quick visit to the Snore Shoppe. I‘ve reluctantly decided to pack my CPAP machine since I have also moved up a suitcase size. Next had to get my car ready for winter in Bedford. Fill up the tank, add a fuel stabilizer and oil change. And finally a quick Dr appt to pick up a few of my new best friends ativan
Wednesday Jan 8th : Snow day. Dropping white since early morn ... Yea I know it’s a bit pretty but I won’t miss it one bit.
Thursday and Sunday : Family meals & sleep over
Monday Jan 13th. Fly day plane to Ottawa was late leaving due to technical difficulties with the arriving aircraft (pop an Ativan) . The flight from Ottawa to London Heathrow was smooth and no one beside me so think I got a 1/2 hr sleep. Was able to get early bus connection to Gatwick and I slept the
55 min trip awaking to hear “ arriving at south terminal”. Got into the Bloc Hotel early as well and could barely keep my head off the counter. If you have ever stayed in one of these airport hotels...aka closets, you can appreciate when I say dark and quiet. I turned off the light and slept soundly till my alarm bolted me upright at 4 pm. decided to have a quick shower but when I stepped into the washroom and tried to turn light switch, it rained not only on my head, but all over the toilet, floor and walls. I bumped into a mirror in shock and then realized the bathroom was the shower...So decided that I was wet enough. Got dressed and took my luggage for checkin at British Air, since the flight was at 8 am and I’m not a morning person at the best of times. But 3 alarms worked and I made it to checkin only to find the plane was full and I had the middle seat in the last row. (Pop an Ativan)
I needed that as it was a bumpy flight, but arriving relaxed and safely in Faro at 11am with a plane full of golfers. Weather Sunny and 17 degrees 😃
Tavira: First Impressions.
First 3 days sunny and 18 degrees but cool at night.😊 my small 1br apt is spacious and clean and very centrally located along the Gilao river. Tons of little boats, which rest on the mud at low tide. We are about 1.5 km inland from the sea and miles of sand. The town is beautiful, white stucco buildings with moorish chimneys. Most of the homes are covered in beautiful tiles of multiple colours and patterns. Some pics of me enjoying morning cafe on my tiny balcony; an orange tree around the corner, one of 37 churches in town, house down the street and looking at my apt block from across the river. note: this is my first blog so no idea how to make this pretty and more readable, but bear with me.
